Jakarta (VNA) - ⛄Indonesia views its BRICS membership as a strategic step to enhance collaboration and cooperation with developing countries with the principles of equality, mutual respect, and sustainable development, the country’s Foreign Ministry stated on January 7.

As a country with an ever-growing and diverse economy, Indonesia is committed to actively contributing to the BRICS agenda on economic resilience, technology cooperation, and sustainable development, the ministry noted in its written statement. Indonesia aims to fulfill its role within BRICS by addressing global challenges, such as climate change, food resilience, and public health.
The country also perceives the BRICS as an important platform for strengthening South-South cooperation and ensuring that the voices and aspirations of the Global South are heard and represented in decision-making processes on the global stage. It is fully dedicated to working with all BRICS members and other parties for a just, peaceful, and prosperous world, according to the statement.
Indonesia is ready to participate constructively in various BRICS initiatives for the interest of the global community. BRICS was established in 2006 at the Foreign Ministers' level, initially comprising Brazil, Russia, India, and China and then was elevated to the State leader-level summit in 2009. BRICS was founded with the initial goal of becoming a global political, economic, and financial entity to reflect a more equitable, balanced and representative power dynamics./.
