Indonesia arrests UK nationals for drug smuggling attempt

Three nationals from the United Kingdom have been arrested for allegedly attempting to traffic around 6 billion Rp (368.684 USD) worth of illegal drugs into Bali, Indonesia.

Jakarta (VNA) – The Bali Regional Police has just arrested three nationals identified as JC, LE, and PA from the United Kingdom for allegedly attempting to traffic around 6 billion Rp (368.684 USD) worth of illegal drugs into Bali, Indonesia.

In a press conference held in Denpasar, Bali on February 6, Adjunct Grand Commissioner Ponco Indriyo, Deputy Director of the Narcotics Investigation Directorate, reported that JC (37) and LE (39) were apprehended on February 1 at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

The two suspects were caught with nearly one kg of narcotics after arriving in Bali from a layover in Doha, Qatar. Their attempt to transport the drugs into Bali was intercepted by customs officers at the airport.

During an inspection of JC’s suitcase, authorities discovered 637.12 grams of white powder, suspected to be a class 1 drug. In LE’s suitcase, seven plastic packages containing 443.10 grams of powder, believed to be cocaine, were found.

Following further investigation, police arrested the third suspect, PA (31), in Tuban, Badung district, Bali.
