Indonesia announces four strategies to boost economic resilience

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s National Development Planning Ministry hassaid it is preparing four strategies to strengthen economic resilience in pursuitof quality and just growth.

The first strategy pertains to economic recovery, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti,an official from the ministry, disclosed at a working meeting with theBudgetary Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) on June 16.

The economic resilience policy is directed at accelerating economic recovery,including restoring the people's purchasing power, diversifying products, andconducting business climate reforms, she said.

The second strategy involves promoting the manufacturing industry by improvingproductivity and competitiveness, developing industrial estates as investmentdestinations, implementing Industry 4.0 and digital technology, and drivingexports of processed goods rather than raw materials to increase added value,Widyasanti informed.

The third strategy covers tourism and includes restoring the tourism market,strengthening tourist destinations through good governance standards, improvinginfrastructure, including sanitation, and increasing the added value of thecreative economy, she said.

The strategy also includes human resources development for creating a skilledworkforce and market expansion to usher in tourism recovery, which is expectedto happen by 2023, she added.

The fourth strategy pertains to micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) andincludes encouraging education and training courses, coaching, and financing,she said.

The strategy also covers the development of territory-based champion SMEs,supply chain-based strategic partnerships, and business consolidation supportedby production and digitalisation, she added.

"Of equal importance is how to continue fiscal reforms, apply financialsystems, improve the quality of investment, improve the logistics system, andspeed up the transition to new and renewable energy," Widyasanti was citedby Indonesia’s Antara News Agency as saying./.
