New Delhi (VNA) – Prime MinisterNarendra Modi reiterated his support for Indian investors to do business inVietnam during a meeting with visiting National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen ThiKim Ngan in New Delhi on December 9.

He recalled his visit to Vietnam in September2016 and said India’s firms are impressed with the investment environment inthe Southeast Asian country.

He described the long-standing friendshipbetween Vietnam and India as a treasure for the future generations to nurtureand develop to a new height.

Regarding the East Sea issue, the PM confirmed thatIndia advocates the settlement of disputes via peaceful means and internationallaw.

For her part, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Nganexpressed her pleasure at the remarkable strides in the bilateral relationsover the past 45 years, especially when the two countries lifted theirstrategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership during the IndianPM’s visit to Vietnam in September 2016.

That move has created a new significantframework for deeper cooperation across the fields, she said, adding that thetwo countries will celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 10thanniversary of strategic partnership in 2017.

She urged the two sides to accelerate measures to create a breakthrough intwo-way trade, which is expected to hit 15 billion USD by 2020.

Ngan told the host that Vietnam supports andencourages Indian oil and gas companies to invest in the new oil fielddiscovered in Vietnam’s continental shelf.

She proposed Indian partners study cooperationopportunities with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) while enablingVietnamese businesses to join potential projects in India and the thirdcountry./.
