Hung Yen to promote development of ecological, smart urban areas
The northern province of Hung Yen aims to record an urbanisation rate of 60-65% by 2030 and 80% by 2050, with a focus on developing large, ecological, smart, modern urban areas.

Hung Yen (VNA) – The northern province of Hung Yen aims to record an urbanisation rate of 60-65% by 2030 and 80% by 2050, with a focus on developing large, ecological, smart, modern urban areas.
According to Nguyen Hung Nam, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, under the provincial master planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050 that has been approved by the Prime Minister, Hung Yen will have three central urban areas namely Hung Yen city and Van Giang and My Hao urban areas.
Hung Yen city will become a central urban area of the province and its southern part, playing the role as an administrative, political, economic, social, cultural, tourism, education-training, scientific and technological centre of the while province. It will connect with Kim Dong district in the province's northern part to develop ecological urban and tourism areas along the Red River, and linking with Tien Lu district in the province's eastern part to develop centres for services, science, training, and startups.
Meanwhile, Van Giang will serve as as an urban hub of the northern part of the province, which will be promoted towards the ecological, smart and modern direction, optimising the advantages of Hanoi’s Belt Roads 3.5 and 4.
At the same time, Van Giang district will be the centre of economy, culture, science and technology, education and training of the region, serving as an important traffic and exchange hub of the Hanoi Capital Region, the key economic centre of the North, the Red River Delta region and the whole country.
Chairman of the People’s Committee of Van Giang district Nguyen Van Tuan said that it is striving to become a three-tier urban area by 2025. It is now home to eight major urban development projects with a total planned area of about 2,200 hectares.
However, the official said that the district has faced a number of difficulties in urban development, especially in transport system and urban management.
ꦺ Tuan said that in order to turn Van Giang into a civilised, modern and ecological urban area, the district has been focusing on speeding up a number of key projects to attract investment and boost its socio-economic development, while continuing to promote ground clearance for transport, urban and industrial projects./.
Taking advantage of agricultural potential, the northern province of Hung Yen has rolled out many solutions to improve the operational efficiency of cooperatives.
