Vietnamese gymnast Pham Phuoc Hung has won a bronze medal in the parallel bars event at the ninth Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup that ended in Doha, Qatar.

Hanoi (VNA) 🎀- Vietnamese gymnast Pham Phuoc Hung has won a bronze medal in the parallel bars event at the ninth Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup that ended in Doha, Qatar.

Hung ranked third in the preliminary round, scoring 15,550 points, which secured him a place in the finals to compete against seven opponents from China, Cuba, Turkey, Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom.
In the finals, he scored 15,350 points to claim third place. The gold medal went to Oleg Stepko of Azerbaijan with 15,825 points, while Manrique Larduet of Cuba claimed the silver medal with 15,775 points.
The international tournament which ended on March 26 attracted more than 100 gymnasts from 33 countries. After the tournament, Hung will continue training in preparation for a pre-Olympic competition scheduled for next month. This will be the last qualification tournament for gymnasts who want to secure berths at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Hung, who competed at the London Olympics in 2012 in the men’s all-round event, made history after one of his techniques was officially named and added to the Men’s Gymnastics Code of Points of the International Gymnastics Federation.-VNA
