HortEx Vietnam 2019 kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City

HCMCity (VNA) – The second International Exhibition & Conference forHorticultural and Floricultural Production and Processing Technology in Vietnam(HortEx Vietnam 2019) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on March 13.

Thethree-day event is co-organised by the Minh Vi Exhibitions and AdvertisementServices Co., Ltd., (VEAS) and the Netherlands’ Nova Exhibition BV.

NguyenBa Vinh, a representative of the organising board, the scale of HortEx Vietnam2019 doubles that of the previous year, making it the largest of its kind inSoutheast Asia. The event has attracted the participation of nearly 200businesses from 28 nations and territories, including Australia, Belgium,Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, and Vietnam.

Italso gathers cutting-edge products and modern technologies that serve theproduction and processing of fruits and vegetables, including net houses,packing machinery, and post-harvest handling solutions.

Alongwith the exhibitions, the organising board has coordinated with ministries,sectors, and associations to organise a series of workshops, as well as a forumon export market information that will introduce international buyers and updateVietnamese firms on sci-tech achievements in the field of vegetable and fruitproduction.

In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the Agency for Southern Affairs underthe Ministry of Industry and Trade Nguyen Quang Huy highlighted the importanceof the cultivation sector in supplying high-value fresh and processed productsto domestic and foreign markets.

Thesector has also made important contributions to increasing incomes andgenerating jobs for farmers as well as promoting the development of other economicsectors, he noted.

Lastyear, Vietnam recorded great successes in exporting vegetables and fruits, withthe export turnover reaching 3.8 billion USD and the figure is hoped toincrease in 2019, he said.

Huy underlined the need to create opportunities for exchange and connection tointroduce products and share new technologies and market information, thus promotingthe production and processing of vegetables and fruits in a sustainable and modernmanner.

HortEx Vietnam 2019 is a useful trade bridge, helping Vietnamese enterprises promotetheir products to more domestic and foreign partners, thus expandingconsumption markets and further attracting investment for stronger developmentin the sector in the time to come, he noted.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels.
