Hong Kong investor proposes racecourse in Can Tho

Hong Kong-based SIBC International Ltd has proposed to the Can Tho authority a project to build a racecourse and an entertainment and tourism complex in the southern city.

Can Tho (VNA) - HongKong-based SIBC International Ltd has proposed to the Can Tho authority aproject to build a racecourse and an entertainment and tourism complex in thesouthern city.

On July 5, the group and other consultants worked with thecity’s People Committee to introduce the project. Accordingly, the whollyforeign invested project will cover an area of 150ha in Binh Thuy district withtotal investment of 500 million USD.

The racecourse will be openevery Friday to Sunday from 8am to 10pm. Those who want tobet must be over 21 years old. They can bet from 10,000 VND (0.45 USD) to 1million VND (45 USD).

The investor’s representative said the project is estimated tocreate jobs for 20,000 locals, generate revenue of 50 trillion VND per year andcontribute some 10 trillion VND to the State budget.

Vo Thanh Thong, Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, saidthis was a large project, thus it required permission from the Government. Headded that the investor must ensure environment, traffic and resettlementissues were addressed during the project’s construction.

Thong asked the investor to study the feasibility of theproject within three months to report to the committeeon October 4 at the latest. If the project was feasible, the cityauthority would instruct the investor to complete necessary procedures.-VNA
