Hoa Hao followers celebrate the sect’s 79th founding anniversary

Nearly 2 million dignitaries and followers of Hoa Hao Buddhism from 17 provinces and cities attended a ceremony at An Hoa temple, Phu My town, Phu Tan district of southern An Giang province on July 1 to celebrate the sect’s 79th founding anniversary (the 18th day of the fifth lunar month).

An Giang (VNA) – Nearly 2 million dignitaries and followers of Hoa HaoBuddhism from 17 provinces and cities attended a ceremony at An Hoa temple, PhuMy town, Phu Tan district of southern An Giang province on July 1 to celebratethe sect’s 79th founding anniversary (the 18th day of the fifth lunar month).

Addressing the event, Nguyen Tan Dat, head of the Hoa HaoBuddhism Sangha’s Executive Committee, said that over the past years, Hoa Haodignitaries and followers have always followed the teachings of Hoa Hao Buddhismfounder, Prophet Huynh Phu So.

They have actively participated in patriotic emulationmovements launched by the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), thushelping improve the living conditions of Hoa Hao followers in particular andthe entire people in general.

At present, there are 399 local executive committees of HoaHao Buddhism in 17 cities and provinces.

Last year, Hoa Hao dignitaries and followers contributedover 402 billion VND (17.6 million USD) to social welfare activities.

On June 30, Vice President of the VFF Central Committee NgoSach Thuc visited and granted gifts to policy beneficiaries who are Hoa Haofollowers in Phu My town.

He spoke highly of efforts by the Hoa Hao Buddhism SanghaExecutive Committee, its local chapters and followers to respond to movementslaunched by the VFF, especially in social welfare and new-style rural buildingworks.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
