HCM City (VNA) – A ceremony celebrating the 2,561st birth anniversaryof Buddha took place in Ho Chi Minh City on May 10, attracting thousands ofBuddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and leaders of centrally-run and localagencies.

MostVenerable Thich Tri Quang, deputy head of the Supreme Patriarch Council ofVietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), delivered a message of VBS Patriarch, MostVenerable Thich Pho Tue, urging Buddhist followers to continue contributing topeace and happiness of themselves and their families, as well as the country’s prosperityand peace for humanity.

Presidentof the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) To Thi BichChau, in her speech, hailed the VBS and its municipal chapter for raising itsmembers’ awareness of State laws and national unity.

The VFF andmunicipal authorities pledge all possible support to religious activities,encourage religious dignitaries and followers to join national emulationmovements, and unite religions and the nation in national construction anddevelopment, he said.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.
