Hi-tech treatment centre inaugurated at Thong Nhat hospital

A ceremony was held on March 22 to inaugurate the hi-tech treatment centre at the Thong Nhat hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to better serve health-care demand in the southern region.

The workis among the components under the first phase of the project to upgradethe Thong Nhat hospital, aiming to make it the leading health-careinstitutions in the region.

In addition, twobuildings were built with new examination rooms and 500 more beds at atotal cost of over 493 billion VND (23 million USD), raising thehospital’s capacity to 1,200 beds.

Attending theceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung lauded the efforts the hospitalstaff has undertaken to ensure medical treatment for southern residentsover the past 40 years.

He also urged the healthsector and localities to work harder to ease patient overload at bighospitals, in tandem with enhancing service quality through improvingthe facilities and bettering staff’s capability.

TheDirector of Thong Nhat Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Duc Cong said the hospitalhas treated successfully numerous complicated cases which requiredhi-technology application. It is now the leading geriatric centre insouthern Vietnam, he said, adding that in the time ahead, the hospitalwill continue to upgrade the main building and build new facilities forheart-vascular diseases and geriatrics.-VNA
