– More than 100youngsters from Ho Chi Minh City on July 23 went to Laos to take on voluntaryactivities till August 5.

The volunteers, who had been involved in the“Green Summer” and “Red Holiday” campaigns in the city, will tour Lao provincesof Attapeu, Champasak and Xiangkhouang, to do good deeds.

They will support the building of twoVietnam-Laos youth friendship houses, coordinate with health workers to providemedical check-ups and treatment for poor people, transfer agriculturaltechniques, and present gifts to needy students.

The youngsters are also expected to help withbuilding playgrounds for children, guiding locals to use electricityeconomically and safely, improving the power system, and visiting contributorsto the Vietnamese revolutionary cause in Laos.

They will participate in a wide range ofculture, sport and art activities with local youths and residents to study thetraditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The event aims to demonstrate the pioneeringrole of youngsters in HCM City to nurture the friendship and solidarity betweenthe two countries, as well as between the city and Lao localities.

It also means to celebrate the 55th anniversaryof Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and 40 years of signing the Vietnam-Laos Treatyof Amity and Cooperation.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
