HCM City (VNA)ꦆ – HCM City officials expressed their willingness to support closer cooperation between young people in the city with their Lao peers at a meeting on April 7.

During his meeting with Sonethanou Thammavong, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU), Tat Thanh Cang, Vice Chairman of the HCM City Partys Committee, said the LPRYU delegation’s visit will open up many cooperation opportunities for the young people of the two countries and particularly between HCM City and Lao localities.
HCM City has been helping Lao in training young officials and in developing agriculture. The city’s Youth Union has organised many volunteer activities in Laos in recent years. Cang suggested that upcoming activities should be more diverse, effective and practical.
Besides cooperation programmes on social work and healthcare, it is necessary to boost cooperation among entrepreneurs and hold tourism trips to promote cross-cultural and historic values to young people. According to Sonethanou Thammavong, the cooperation between young people in HCM City and Lao youths has achieved many positive results, especially in volunteer activities and exchange of experience, which lays the foundations for the strong bonds between young people of the two countries.-VNA
