HCM City seeks stronger trade, investment ties with Slovakia

HCM City (VNA)– 🌸Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Thanh Phong onNovember 25 received Peter Pellegrini, Slovakian Deputy Prime Minister forInvestments and Informatization, who is paying an official visit to Vietnamfrom November 25-29.
At the meeting, Phong saidPellegrini’s visit will enhance the traditional cooperation between the twocountries in general and between HCM City and Slovakian localities inparticular. As the traditionalcooperation between Vietnam and Slovakia has been consolidated, relationsbetween HCM City and Slovakian localities, including Kosice city, are alsobeing enhanced, he said. HCM City will create optimalconditions for Slovakian companies to promote trade, investment cooperation anddo long-term business in fields that the city has high demand such as chemicalindustry, smart solutions, sustainable development, food industry and health,Phong added. He asked the SlovakianDeputy PM to encourage Slovakian firms to foster trade and investmentcooperation with Vietnam and HCM City in particular, contributing to thesustainable development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Slovakia. Lauding the traditional friendship,Pellegrini said Vietnam and Slovakia, as well as HCM City and Slovakianlocalities, hold huge potentials to strengthen cooperation, especially ineconomy, trade and investment. He thanked the city for itssupport for the construction of a Vietnam-Slovakia friendship building, asymbol for the two countries’ sound traditional friendship, and also called forthe city’s businesses to explore Slovakia’s investment climate as a gateway toenter the European market.-VNA

The Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisation held a gathering in the city on October 8 in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Constitution Day of Slovakia.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia should increase cooperative activities and delegation exchanges to enhance trade and investment collaboration between the two countries, said a senior official.
