HCM City pledges to facilitate operation of Sri Lankan firms

Hanoi (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City will facilitate the operation of foreign businesses,including those from Sri Lanka, Secretary of the municipal Party CommitteeNguyen Thien Nhan has pledged.
Ata reception on March 10 for the new Sri Lankan Ambassador, Sampath PrasannaWalpita Gamage, Nhan expressed his belief that the ambassador will work as abridge helping enterprises from Sri Lanka invest in Vietnam and HCM City in particular.
Healso urged the ambassador to work to further cement the relationship betweenVietnam and Sri Lanka in the time ahead, especially in 2020 when the twocountries mark the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomaticties.
Nhanstressed that Vietnam and Sri Lanka have substantial potential to boost theireconomic ties.
Forhis part, Sampath Prasanna Walpita Gamage thanked HCM City for creating thebest possible conditions for Sri Lankan firms to operate in the locality.
Theambassador expressed his hope that trade between the two countries will expandfrom 200 million USD in 2019 to 1 billion USD in the years to come.
Hecommitted to making all-out efforts to promote the traditional friendship andequal, mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries./.
The Prime Ministers of Vietnam and Sri Lanka have agreed to strive to bring two-way trade to 1 billion USD during their meeting in Hanoi on September 11.
