Ho Chi Minh City held a get-together on January 7 for outstanding overseas Vietnamese who return home to welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) – Vietnam’s biggest national festival.

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City held a get-together on January 7 foroutstanding overseas Vietnamese who return home to welcome the upcoming Lunar NewYear (Tet) – Vietnam’s biggest national festival.

Affirming that the city’s leaders always have specialaffection and respect for the overseas Vietnamese community, Vice Secretary ofthe municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu thanked them for their contributions,especially during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Remittances sent by Vietnamese people abroad havesupplemented resources for the city to effectively implement socio-economicdevelopment activities and ensure social welfare, said Hieu.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoanstated that during its construction and development process, the city hopes tocontinue receiving contributions and investments from overseas Vietnamese.

Ho Chi Minh City always welcomes and is willing to createall favourable conditions for the overseas Vietnamese community to invest, dobusiness, and make practical contributions to the city's development,especially in such fields as health, education, and physical training-sports./.

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
