Vientiane (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City always treasures the twiningrelations with Vientiane, as well as the special solidarity and comprehensivecooperation between Vietnam and Laos as a whole, an official of the city said.
Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of themunicipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Le made the statement while meeting withChairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou and Governor of Vientianecapital Sinlavong Khutphaythoun in Vientiane on July 25. She is leading adelegation from the city’s People’s Council to visit the neighbouring countryfrom July 24-28.
At the event, Le said the visit aims to affirm Ho Chi Minh City’s efforts and goodwillto intensify the special solidarity and comprehensive collaboration betweenVietnam and Laos.
The Lao hosts, for their parts, spoke highly of the delegation’s visit,describing it as a good illustration of the robust relations between the twonations, and Ho Chi Minh City and Vientiane.
They took the occasion to thank Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders for sharing valuableexperience with Lao counterparts, help the people’s councils of Lao localitiespromote their role and receive confidence from local residents.
They wished the People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City will continue support andclose cooperation with the People’s Council of Vientiane in the fields ofmanagement and implementation of policies on land and real estate, increasingstate budget revenue.

The same day, Le held talks with her Vientiane counterpart Anuphap Tounalom,during which the latter lauded the cooperative achievements between the twosides, and thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government and people as well as theHo Chi Minh City authorities for giving support to Vientiane in the past time.
He suggested both councils enhance collaboration, particularly in organisingconferences to share experience and develop human resources, and continuediscussion to sign a Memorandum of Understanding soon.
Le said Ho Chi Minh City will do its utmost to develop the cooperative tieswith Vientiane in a deeper and more effective manner, contributing to elevatingthe Vietnam-Laos relations to a new high amidst unpredictable developments ofthe regional and global situations.
During their stay, the delegation had a working session with the VietnameseEmbassy in Laos, laid wreath at memorial monument of unknown martyrs, visitedand presented gifts to children at Vientiane-Ho Chi Minh City friendshipschool, and had a working session with Champasak province.-VNA
