HCM City expects stronger cooperation with Australian localities: Official

Ho Chi Minh City wants to strengthen cooperation with Australian localities in areas where it has demand and Australia has strength such as high-quality human resource development, digital economy, and innovation, finance, energy transition, climate change response, and logistics, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said in a meeting with Australian Governor-General David Hurley in the city on April 5.

HCM City (VNA) - Ho Chi Minh City wants tostrengthen cooperation with Australian localities in areas where it has demand andAustralia has strength such as high-quality human resource development, digital economy,and innovation, finance, energy transition, climate change response, andlogistics, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said in a meeting with Australian Governor-General David Hurley in the city on April 5.

Nen said over the past five decades, Vietnam-Australia relationshave been developing strongly in many fields, not only bringing positive resultsto their people but also making an important contributions to peace andprosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.

He noted that HCM City has worked closely with a number of Australian localities, signed memoranda of understanding on friendlycooperation with four Australian states, and carried out many programmes based onthe pacts.

HCM City is willing to coordinate with Australian partners whocome to the city to study trade-investment opportunities and shareexperience to helping the southern largest economic hub in its development process, Nen affirmed.

Hurley, who is in Vietnam for a State visit from April 3-6, highly valuedthe city’s potential, saying its development process presentsa good opportunity to further promote its cooperation relationship withAustralia.

He stressed that Australia is willing to cooperate, support,and share experience with the city to solve challenges in the development process, contributingto further enhancing the development of the cooperative ties between the two nations.

On the same day, the Governor-General and his spouse visited RMIT Vietnam University, a branch of the Royal Melbourne Institute ofTechnology (RMIT), and the Australian Consulate General in the city./.
