HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City willexpand pedestrian area in District 1 to include Bui Vien Street as from July15.

The street will be open to pedestrians only from7:00 pm to 2:00 am next day on Saturdays and Sundays.

The municipal People’s Committee said training courseson community-based tourism will be held in June to help businesses, householdsand individuals directly involving in trading activities on the street.

Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice Chairman of the HCM CityPeople’s Committee, said the Department of Tourism will be responsible fororganising, managing and developing tourism activities in the area.

Units and individuals are encouraged to conductart performances on the street to reduce the use of public budget, Tuyen said.

District 1 was requested to support residents inthe area while ensuring traffic flows and security and order on the street.

According to the district People’s Committee, anumber of works are underway to serve tourism, such as tiling pavement,building public toilets, and installing wifi networks.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
