Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh CityPeople’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam ThomasLoidl have highlighted the development of bilateral cooperation.
They met in the southern city of Vietnam onJanuary 16, noting stable economic ties between HCM City and Austria with tradereaching 149.1 million USD in 2016.
That included 29.3 million USD worth of goodsHCM City imported from the European nation such as pharmaceutical products,electronic components and machinery. Meanwhile, the city earned 119.8 millionUSD in shipments with textile-garment, footwear and wood products among keyexports.
Austria has 11 investment projects with totalcapital of 34.59 million USD in HCM City at present, they said.
At the meeting, a representative of Frequentis,an Austrian public safety solutions company, presented a solution that mergesdifferent phone numbers in the city’s emergency response centre. Phong welcomedthis idea.

Vietnamese and Austrian enterprises attended a business-to-business platform in Austria on Aug. 23 to seek partners in the fields of clean energy, banking, telecommunications and garments, and food.
