HCM City attracts 17 million visitors in H1

Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 17 million visitors in the first six months of this year, including 4.2 million foreigners, up 10.1 percent year on year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 17million visitors in the first six months of this year, including 4.2 million foreigners,up 10.1 percent year on year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

The city earned 73 trillion VND (3.13 billion USD) fromtourism in the first half of this year, a rise of 16.6 percent over the sameperiod last year.

In order to attract more tourists, in the last six months ofthis year, the department will continue implementing its plan to build new anddiverse products.

It will coordinate with outlying Cu Chi district to developagricultural tourism in association with the national target programme to buildnew-style rural areas.

Alongside, an ecotourism model in Thanh An commune of suburbanCan Gio district will be formed, along with the completion of seven rivertourism routes.

The city will also build a strategy to develop meetings, incentives, conferences, andexhibitions (MICE) tourism towards 2025.-VNA
