At a press conference in Hanoi on September 25,Hoa said over 7.9 million health insurance cardholders received medicalcheck-ups and treatment in the first nine months of the year, with the costamounting to more than 12.2 trillion VND (525.8 million USD).
Hoa attributed the overspending to an upsurge inhealth care service fees. Some healthcare facilities also ask patients to takeunnecessary medical tests.
In addition, treatment costs depend on eachcentre, making it difficult for the agency to balance the fund.
Hanoi Social Insurance has asked medical centresto review health insurance payments.
The percentage of Hanoi citizens with healthcare insurance has so far reached 84.9 percent and is expected to increaseto 85.3 percent by the end of this year.-VNA
