Hanoi to start work on eight major projects on Liberation Day anniversary
The latest initiatives followed this year’s National Day (September 2) celebrations, which saw nine significant projects in the city completed or inaugurated.

Hanoi (VNA) ❀– As the capital prepares to celebrate the 71st anniversary of its Liberation Day on October 10, Hanoi has finalised eight major projects set to launch in early October, signalling a fresh wave of public investment and socio-economic development.
Following Followthis year’s National Day (September 2) celebrations, which saw nine significant projects in the city completed or inaugurated, the latest initiatives include the Thuong Cat Bridge and its approach roads, phase two of Tran Hung Dao Bridge with connecting routes, the Le Hong Phong Cadre Training School, and the second Hanoi Kidney Hospital facility.
Others are the Ngoc Trai (Pearl) Opera House and a themed cultural and artistic park in the Quang An Peninsula (West Lake), an underpass at Co Linh intersection in Long Bien ward, and a riverside park along the To Lich River.
Another highlight will be the groundbreaking of Hanoi’s Metro Line No. 2, running from Nam Thang Long to Tran Hung Dao, with the ceremony planned at Xuan Dinh depot. The city will also unveil detailed plans for Station C9 and related works between Stations C8 and C10, alongside resettlement and site clearance for the proposed square and park east of Hoan Kiem Lake in the historic centre.

The operation of the cultural train, Metro Line 2A, and bus routes not only eases traffic congestion but also opens new opportunities to explore Hanoi in a modern, eco-friendly way.
Work has started on a key section of the Belt Road No. 4 – Hanoi Capital Region expressway, one of the largest infrastructure projects in northern Vietnam, with a total investment of more than 56 trillion VND (around 2.2 billion USD).
The main route starts at the Van Cao – Hoang Hoa Tham intersection and ends at Thach Binh Station (Hoa Lac), with a total length of approximately 39.6 km. Additionally, the project includes two branches connecting to Depot No. 1 (in Son Dong and Duong Hoa communes) and Depot No. 2 (in Hoa Lac commune), with a total branch length of about 4.8 km.
