Hanoi to invest trillions of VND to upgrade medical establishments
Hanoi will invest nearly 2 trillion VND (around 85.6 million USD) in 2019 and 2020 to upgrade medical establishments in the city, thus improving medical care quality for residents, Chairman of the capital city’s People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said.

Hanoi, (VNA) – Hanoi will invest nearly 2 trillion VND (around 85.6million USD) in 2019 and 2020 to upgrade medical establishments in the city,thus improving medical care quality for residents, Chairman of the capitalcity’s People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said.
TheHanoi mayor made the announcement at a meeting on December 18 to review thetwo-year operation of the hi-tech digestive centre at the Saint Paul GeneralHospital, which was built following European standardsand employs the latest technologiesavailable in Vietnam.
Inaddition to its modern equipment, a group of leading professors in thegastrointestinal field, led by Dr. Joel Leroy, a top laparoscopic surgeon,offered expert advice and assistance with surgeries at the facility.
Sinceits inauguration on November 27, 2016, the centre has conducted checkups formore than 45,000 patients and performed more than 4,280 surgeries. The numberof patients visiting the centre in 2018 doubled that in 2017.
Thecentre also coordinated with commune clinics to conduct free-of-charge screeningfor gastrointestinal cancer for people over 40 in Hanoi.
Onthe occasion, Dr. Joel Leroy was conferredwith the title of Honorary Professor of the Hanoi Medical University for hiscontribution to the centre.-VNA
