Hanoi to intensify cooperation with UK in various fields

Hanoi (VNA) –Hanoi encourages firms from the United Kingdom to invest in trade, processingagro-forestry-aqua products and tourism, and hopes the enterprises will findsuitable partners for their cooperation in the capital city, Chairman of the HanoiPeople’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung has said.
At a working reception for UKPrime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia Edward Vaizey onOctober 5, with the participation of Ambassador Gareth Ward and representativeof the municipal authorities, Chung stressed that Hanoi is currently veryattentive to and hopeful for further investment and more partners with considerablepotential in various fields. He cited many sectors which are Hanoi’s demand andUK’s strength such as the learning of the English language, the IT, thebuilding of smart cities, tourism, and sports.
The official said theteaching of the English language has now been broadened to elementary schoolsin the city, and affirmed that municipal authorities will facilitatehighly-skilled teachers from the UK to come to work in Hanoi.
Chung also proposed that thetwo capitals strengthen the coordination between their police forces, whilespeaking highly of the cooperation in various field between the two countriesin general and the two capital cities in particular over the recent past.
Expressing his fineimpressions on the rapid development and the beautiful landscapes of Hanoi,Edward stressed that the people of his countries also have many things incommon with Vietnamese people, and that is why the fields Hanoi hopes forcooperation are also those of UK’s strength. This will make it easier for thebilateral collaboration in the time to come.
The official also held thatthe two sides should work out a concrete strategy on the popularization work soas to make more companies from his country obtain a clearer understanding ofHanoi’s potential.
In the recent years, moreand more people in the UK are coming to have a better knowledge of Hanoi aswell as Vietnam, evidenced by the fact that the number of travelers from theEuropean country coming to Vietnam has tripled after only some years. Theaverage yearly figure is 300,000, and this will reach 500,000 in the years tocome.-VNA
