Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi police have arrested a Colombiannational for theft and are hunting for other accomplices in the gang.

Rodricuez Luis Alexander, born in 1977, was arrestedby Hanoi police and border guards of the Cau Treo Border Gate at this port ofentry in central Ha Tinh province on April 1.

Two other Colombians were reported to be withhim at the time of the arrest, namely Zuga Galvez Jaime Alberto (born in 1978)and Nino Fidel (born in 1976).

Preliminary information showed that the gangconsisted of nine members. They followed those who came to major banks towithdraw money and then used nails or sharp knives to damage car tyres. Theytook advantage of the time the victims had their tyres repaired to stealassets.

With the same trick, they stole nearly 2 billionVND (87,890 USD) from a resident in Hang Tre street of Hoan Kiem district,Hanoi, on February 22.-VNA
