Hanoi plans 14 new bridges crossing Red, Duong Rivers

Hanoi plans to build 14 bridges crossing the Red and Duong Rivers in the city from now to 2030, revealed Vu Duy Tuan, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment.

Hanoi(VNA) – Hanoi plans to build 14 bridges crossing the Red and Duong Rivers inthe city from now to 2030, revealed Vu Duy Tuan, Deputy Director of themunicipal Department of Planning and Investment.

Of the total, 10 willspan the Red River, namely Viet Tri-Ba Vi, Van Phuc, Hong Ha, Thuong Cat, TuLien, Tran Hung Dao, Vinh Tuy (second phase), Ngoc Hoi, Me So and Phu Xuyen.The other four passing the Duong River are Duong 2, Ngoc Thuy, Giang Bien andMai Lam.

Currently, the Tu Lienbridge project, which includes a road from the bridge to the Hanoi-Thai NguyenHighway, has been underway with an investment of about 17 trillion VND (748million USD). The project, implemented under the public-private partnershipform, is scheduled to complete in 2021.

Meanwhile, the 6trillion VND (264 million USD) Duong 2 bridge project and a road connecting itwith Bac Ninh province is expected to reduce congestion in the old Duong bridgeonce operational in 2021.

The Tran Hung Daobridge, to be built at a cost of about 7 trillion VND (308 million USD), is setto finish in 2019, easing traffic pressure for Long Bien and Chuong Duongbridges.

At the same time, theconstruction of Giang Bien bridge is hoped to promote the socio-economic growthof Gia Lam district. It has a total planned investment of over 6 trillion VND (264million USD) and is expected to complete in 2020.-VNA
