Hanoi (VNA) – The HanoiTransport Corporation (Transerco) put into operation 15 European-standard buseson November 7.
The buses are being operated on routeNo 3 from Giap Bat station to Gia Lam station and have Mercedes engines whichare up to European standards on exhaust fumes.
Transerco Director General NguyenHoang Trung said the vehicles feature a driver cabin, free wifi, and a modernGPS system.
With the buses’ arrival, the route is the first in the capital city to operate low-floor buses.
The same day, the Transerco replacedall buses on its route No 25 that runs from Giap Bat station to the secondNational Hospital of Tropical Disease in Dong Anh district. The route now usesnew buses manufactured by Daewoo Vietnam.-VNA
As many as 62 new bus routes will be launched in Hanoi by 2020 to meet the local demand and reduce traffic jams, according to Ha Huy Quang, Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Transportation.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
