The People’s Committee of Hanoi held a ceremony on August 27 to inaugurate and put the Phuong Dinh waste treatment plant into operation in Dan Phuong district.
The factory, which will use Martin technology from Germany, is one of the pioneer facilities in Vietnam in combusting waste to produce electricity. It has a total investment capital of 270 billion VND (12.2 million USD) and a processing capacity of 300 tonnes of waste per day. The plant will help meet the demand for waste treatment in the Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc and Quoc Oai districts as well as industrial parks and craft villages in the localities, said Vu Hong Khanh, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plas🅰tic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
