Hanoi: Living conditions in rural areas improve

The living conditions in Hanoi’s rural areas have improved remarkably over the years, according to the latest general survey on rural areas, agriculture and fisheries conducted by the capital city.

Hanoi(VNA) – The living conditions in Hanoi’s rural areas have improved remarkably overthe years, according to the latest general survey on rural areas, agricultureand fisheries conducted by the capital city.

The survey wasconducted in 2016, covering more than one million households in rural areas andurban households engaged in agricultural, forestry and fisheries production.

According to thesurvey, as of July 1, 2016, 96.41 percent of hamlets have health workers and373 doctors are working at commune-level health centres, while 46.11 percent ofrural communes had privately-run medical stations.  

Around 15percent of the rural communes have concentrated water supply systems, and 25percent of communes have a cultural house.

Roadinfrastructure has been improved significantly, with 99.92 percent of hamletsaccessible by car.

The survey alsorevealed a positive shift in the economic structure in rural areas, with less agriculturalhouseholds and more households engaged in industrial, construction and serviceactivities.

The city has3,189 farms, an increase of 2,100 farms from 2011.
