Ireland’s Global Greening initiative started in 2010 and it is now a firmfeature of St. Patrick’s Day around the world. On the day, hundreds of iconiclandmarks, such as the Empire State building in New York, the US, and the GreatWall of China, turn green to encourage environment protection.
Speaking at the event, Irish Ambassador Cait Moran said that Hanoi has become thefirst city in Southeast Asia to join Ireland’s Global Greening Campaign 2017 andLy Thai To Garden is the 100th landmark in the world to go green forSt. Patrick’s Day, together with other iconic landmarks in 35 countries.
She hoped that the event will encourage Vietnamese people to visit Ireland todiscover themselves the magic of its green island and warm hospitality of Irishpeople.
Congratulating Ireland on its National Day, Vice Chairman of HanoiPeople’s Committee Ngo Van Quy affirmed that vibrant activities held within thecampaign will help Hanoians understand more about Ireland as well as spread themessage of protecting green planet.
