Hanoi: All industrial parks to have wastewater systems by 2020

Hanoi (VNA) – The capital city of Hanoi will focus on wastewatertreatment systems in all industrial parks by 2020 as part of its efforts to enhanceenvironmental protection.

The municipal People’s Committee has ordered the Department of NaturalResources and Environment to examine the environmental impact assessments of operatingprojects in the city.

Meanwhile, investors must work to handle wastewater that can pollute and damagethe surrounding environment and local livelihoods. All of the measures must be madein compliance with national technical standards. In addition, they must declareand pay fees for environmental protection.

The capital city is now home to 18 industrial parks with a total area of nearly3,441 hectares. There are 89 industrial complexes in the city, 43 of which are operatingstably and 46 others have just completed their infrastructure systems.

According to reports from relevant authorities, wastewater treatment plantshave been built in nine operating industrial zones while construction of 21 stationsin 43 industrial complexes has been completed. However, of the 21 only 10stations with combined capacity of 10,800 cubic metres per day are operational.-VNA

꧅ Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
