Hai Phong hosts TELSOM-ATRC Leaders Retreat

The annual TELSOM-ATRC Leaders Retreat is taking place in the northern port city of Hai Phong from April 11-12 to boost cooperation in information and communication technologies (ICT) between ASEAN member countries.

Addressing theopening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication TranDuc Lai highlighted the bloc’s ICT cooperation and its effectivelyimplemented projects.

Lai suggested participantsconsider carefully set targets for the 2015 cooperation roadmap, definepriortised areas in line with the region’s development and discuss acooperation programme based on orientations in the Cebu Declarationapproved at the 12 th ASEAN Telecommunication Ministers’ Meeting in thePhilippines last November.

During the meeting,the delegates will evaluate initiatives and projects implemented withinthe framework of the master plan on ICT development among ASEAN membercountries towards 2015.

Earlier, from April 8-10,the ministry coordinated with the ASEAN Secretariat to organise the ATRCjoint working group (ATRC JWG), and with the European Union to hold the2 nd ASEAN Spectrum Policy Forum.-VNA

💙 Vietnam launches six 4.0 technology training and talent networks

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
