Hai Duong ships abroad first 250 tonnes of carrots in 2022
Firms in the northern province of Hai Duong on January 11 shipped nearly 250 tonnes of carrots to the Republic of Korea (RoK), the first overseas shipment of the vegetable this year.

Hai Duong (VNA)🍌 – Firms in the northern province ofHai Duong on January 11 shipped nearly 250 tonnes of carrots to the Republicof Korea (RoK), the first overseas shipment of the vegetable this year.
Another batch of around 375 tonnes is scheduled to be sent to the RoK on January 12. Chairman of the Board ofDirectors of Ameii Vietnam company Nguyen Khac Tien said this year, the RoKbought Vietnamese carrots at high prices. His company has reached deals withKorean partners to export roughly 5,000 tonnes this year. According to theprovincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province hasabout 1,500ha of carrot during the 2021-2022 winter crop with an estimated outputof approximately 65,000 tonnes, up over 7 percent from 2020. Its prices are now4,000 – 5,000 VND per kg higher than that last year. The province’s 2020-2021 wintercrop value reached 4.55 trillion VND (197.8 million USD), up 397 billion VNDyear-on-year. About 80 percent of carrot output were exported. Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Tran Van Quan said Hai Duong targets expandingmarkets for farm produce and carrots in particular viaboosting production up to international standards, improving post-harvest processingand production connectivity to raise farm produce’s value. At the same time,the province will step up brand building and trade promotion at home andabroad./.
The northern province of Hai Duong had sold about 28,000-29,000 tonnes of its “thieu” lychees to both domestic and foreign markets as of May 31, accounting for 55 percent of its annual output, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
