HaNam (VNA) – Competent forces have arrested a 34-year-old man for illegallytransporting ten bricks of heroin in the northern province of Ha Nam, localpolice said on May 24.
TranVan Luat, from Bac Thuong hamlet, Quang Tien commune, Soc Son district, Hanoi,was caught in Liem Chinh ward, Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province, on May 23 nightwhile transporting the large amount of heroin from the northern mountainous provinceof Son La to Ho Chi Minh City.
Theheroin bricks were hidden on his car’s seat, along with a K59 rifle, eightbullets, a dagger, a two-section cudgel and 16 million VND (688 USD).
Luatconfessed that he was paid 50 million VND (2,580 USD) to transport the heroinfrom Son La city to HCM City.
HaNam’s police are continuing with the investigation into the case.-VNA
Police in collaboration with border guard and customs forces in the northern border province of Son La on April 20 caught a suspect red handed trafficking 17 heroin bricks, weighing about 6kg.
Hai Duong police said on May 21 that they have arrested a woman for trafficking 30 bricks of heroin, the largest amount ever seized in the northern province.
