Guinea-Bissau President concludes official visit to Vietnam
Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and his spouse left Hanoi on September 8 afternoon, successfully concluding their four-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse.

Hanoi (VNA) - Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and his spouse left Hanoi on September 8 afternoon, successfully concluding their four-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse.
While in Vietnam, President Embaló attended an official welcome ceremony and held talks with Party General Secretary and State President To Lam. The two leaders witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on establishing a political and diplomatic consultation mechanism between the two countries’ foreign ministries, and an MoU on agricultural cooperation between the two ministries of agriculture and rural development. The top Vietnamese leader and his spouse also hosted a banquet in honour of their Guinea-Bissau guests.
The Guinea-Bissau President also met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who expressed their confidence that the visit, the first delegation exchange at the head of state level between the two countries since they established diplomatic ties in 1973, would create new momentum for the two countries’ traditional friendship and cooperation, building on recent bilateral delegation exchanges, joint work, and mutual support.
President Embaló expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s revolutionary cause and national construction efforts, noting that a secondary school in Guinea-Bissau has been named after late President Ho Chi Minh.
He affirmed that Vietnam is considered as a model for developing countries in Africa, including Guinea-Bissau.
The Vietnamese and Guinea-Bissau leaders updated each other on their respective countries' situation and expressed their satisfaction with the positive outcomes in bilateral relations, especially as the two sides celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations last year. They also discussed ways to further step up cooperation in the time to come.
꧃ As part of his visit, the Guinea-Bissau President visited the Field Crops Research Institute (FCRI) under the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), in the northern province of Hai Duong and participated in other activities./.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló who is on an official visit to Vietnam from September 5-8, during which the two leaders agreed to work together to develop the bilateral relations in the spirit of sincere, equal, and mutually beneficial partnership.
Party General Secretary and President To Lam said the official visit by Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the first delegation exchange at the Head of State level between the two countries since they established diplomatic ties in 1973, will be a success, injecting a new impetus into bilateral friendship and cooperation.
State President Luong Cuong’s trip once again reaffirmed the Party and State’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralisation of relations. It also reflected the strong trend of enhanced cooperation among countries of the Global South in shaping a new, more multipolar, fair and equitable world order.
The outcomes of Party General Secretary To Lam's visit will serve as a driving force and source of inspiration for the two countries to inherit, promote, and elevate their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to the national construction and development cause in each country, and to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Vietnam pledges to do its utmost to build an ASEAN of solidarity, consensus, and unity in diversity, and to foster a fast and sustainable development path for ASEAN, grounded in science, technology, and innovation, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Party General Secretary To Lam called on the criminal police force to accelerate the application of science, technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation in criminal investigation tasks such as crime prevention, detection, tracking and verification, ensuring that no area remains out of their reach.
