Green tourism week to be held in Can Tho City

The Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week 2015 is set to take place in the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho from June 27 to July 3, drawing the participation of tourism provinces, diplomatic agencies and foreign businesses.

Announcing the event at a conference on June 19, theSouthwest Region Steering Committee said the highlights of the GreenTourism Week are activities to promote investment in eco-tourism andcreate links among regional provinces as well as between the region andother localities.

Head of the Committee Nguyen Phong Quang saidthat a number of programmes are scheduled at the Tourism Week, includinga series of conferences on investment attraction, a trade and tourismfair, the Miss Delta Pageant finale, cuisine and street festivals andsurvey tours to potential destinations in Can Tho City and Kien Giangand Ca Mau provinces.

According to the organising board, about1,200 booths have registered to join the trade tourism fair. Inaddition, detailed plans have been made for logistics such ashealthcare, security and communication.

The Mekong Delta Tourism Week will kick off on June 29.

The event is co-organised by the Steering Committee in conjunctionwith the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Can Thomunicipal People’s Committee.-VNA
