Government strives to curb CPI at 8 pct this year

Minister and Head of the Government Office Vu DucDam made the statement at a press briefing in Hanoi on January 29following the Cabinet’s regular monthly meeting the same day.

He added that despite January’s CPI rose by 1.25 percent against theprevious month, signs signalling the index to climb up again are yetspotted.

Regarding measures to rescue the realestate market, Dam stressed that since early 2012, the Governmentinstructed the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) to examineoperations of businesses involved in real estate and the Ministry ofConstruction to assess real estate market health.

He confirmed the measures taken were developed on the results of thoseassessments and surveys as well as recommendations from authorisedagencies, localities, banks and related associations.

Dam statedthe Government always gives priority to ensuring the interests of thosewith difficulties, especially the poor who cannot afford an apartment.

At the Government’s meeting, the MPI reported that more than3,830 enterprises have been newly established with a total registeredcapital of more than 15.9 trillion VND (757 million USD) from January1-20.

Export turnover hit 10.1 billion USD, up 43.2percent over the same period last year. More than 130,000 jobs have beencreated this month, about 7,000 of them overseas.-VNA

Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
