GiaLai (VNA)ꦦ – The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai has madeeffort to have additional 80 new-style rural communes by 2020, or 43 percent ofthe total communes.

Afterfive years, 21 communes have been recognised as new-style communes in thelocality.

VoNgoc Thanh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee affirmed that Gia Laiwill prioritise infrastructure development in rural areas.

The province will continue raising public awareness of the campaigns like “Allpeople stay united to build new rural areas and civilised urban areas”.

Thenational programme on building new-style rural areas, initiated by theGovernment in 2010, includes 19 criteria on socio-economic development,politics and defence, aiming to boost rural areas of Vietnam.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
