Get-together marks 40th founding anniversary of Front 479

The Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA) and former volunteer soldiers of Front 479 co-organised a get-together in Hanoi on April 14 to celebrate the 40th founding anniversary of the front.

- The Vietnam-CambodiaFriendship Association (VCFA) and former volunteer soldiers of Front 479 co-organiseda get-together in Hanoi on April 14to celebrate the 40th founding anniversary of the front.

Speaking at the event, head of the Front 479 volunteer soldiers association inHanoi Le Cuong said the front was established on April 14, 1979 with three mainmissions: continuing to fight in Cambodia to prevent the recovery of the PolPot genocidal regime, helping Cambodia recover production, and assistingCambodia build its government and armed forces from the central local levels.

During their ten-years of operation in Cambodia, the Vietnamese volunteer soldiersof Front 479 and Cambodian armed forces took part in over 16,000 battles, andhelped the country build revolutionaryforces.

At the get-together, veterans of Front 479 reminisced about unforgettablememories and commemorated their comrades, who have bravely sacrificedthemselves to accomplish the noble international mission.

Theyalso reminded each other to maintain and promote solidarity among Vietnam, Laosand Cambodia.

On the occasion, the VCFA and former volunteer soldiers of Front 479 in Hanoi presented 33 giftpackages to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, representatives from families of martyrsand Cambodia students studying in Vietnam.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
