General Department of Military Intelligence awarded hero title

Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member and National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan presented the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forcesto the General Department of Military Intelligenceunder the Defence Ministry at a ceremony in Hanoi on October 25.
The NA Chairwoman said the conferment of the title is a great honour forthe General Department, also known as General Department II, which at the sametime comes with heavy responsibility.
She urged the general department to uphold the glorious tradition of theunit, stay absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, andstand ready to receive and fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party, State, Armyand people.
Director of the General Department Lt. Gen. Pham Ngoc Hung addressed theceremony, summing up the magnanimous traditions and glorious feats of thedefence intelligence sector during its 74-year history.
He said the hero title is the recognition of the feat of arms andsacrifice of generations of officers, soldiers and workers in the sector./.
Southern Ben Tre province on August 6 received the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title for the Women’s Liberation Association – Long-Haired Army, the name of an all-female armed force during the resistance war against the US.

The “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title was bestowed upon the Hanoi-based Military Central Hospital 108, one of the five special nationwide hospitals, for a second time on December 17.
