FrieslandCampina praised for sustainability

FrieslandCampina Vietnam has been ranked among the 100 most sustainable businesses of 2017 for its contributions to the sustainable development of the country.

HCM City (VNA) - FrieslandCampina Vietnam hasbeen ranked among the 100 most sustainable businesses of 2017 for itscontributions to the sustainable development of the country.

The company has reduced the use of energy by 15 percent andwater by 25 percent and cut CO2 emissions by 40 percent compared to 2010.

Its programme for the milk industry development, Den Dom Dom,which builds new schools in disadvantaged areas, provides nutrition educationand does research, bring benefits to the community.

For instance, the company has collaborated with the Red Crossfor a campaign called Drinking Milk- Exercising- Healthy that benefits 75,000children at 112 schools nation-wide.

It also is working with Agriterra, a Dutch agriculture agencyfounded in 1997 to promote, facilitate and support lasting cooperation betweenrural organisations in the Netherlands and in developing countries, to trainVietnamese farmers in best practices.

This is the second year that the list has been drawn up bythe Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development of the Vietnam Chamberof Commerce and Industry along with the Ministries of Labour, Invalids, andSocial Affairs, Industry and Trade, and Natural Resources and Environment, theVietnam General Confederation of Labour, and the State Securities Commission ofVietnam.

It honours enterprises and organisations that pioneersustainable development in the country.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
