Strategies to form a creative economy in Asia and Europe have been discussed at the Experts’ Meeting and Public Forum of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) that opened in Hanoi on December 4.

Underthe theme “Creative Economy in Asia and Europe: An Emerging Pillar ofEconomic Growth and Development”, the event was held in the support ofthe International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies(IFACCA) and the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Opening the forum, ASEF Deputy Executive Director Karsten Warneckesaid culture has been widely recognised as a launch pad for economicgrowth.

High growth of cultural and creative industries willoffer reformative solutions for increasing development challenges inAsia and Europe, he said.

He stated that the two-day eventwill help encourage dialogue and exchange of creative access, thusfacilitating cooperation between the two continents in creative andbeneficial ways.

Experts suggested policies to be reportedat the sixth Asia-Europe Culture Ministers’ Meeting in the Netherlandsnext year.

On the first working day, the forum announced thecultural policy profiles of India and the Republic of Korea. Vietnam isscheduled to release its national cultural policy on December 5,commissioned through the WorldCP initiative.-VNA
