ThanhHoa (VNA) - A forum to raise public awareness of children’s rights toparticipate in child issues was held in the northern central province of ThanhHoa on July 4.

Jointly held by the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and WorldVision in Vietnam and relevant agencies, the event saw the participation ofrepresentatives from local departments and sectors and 200 students.

The forum highlighted entire society’s responsibility for ensuring children’srights, and proposed measures to fight violence against children and childabuse, prevent child drowning, and ensure the implementation of the rights ofpoor and ethnic children in the province.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’sCommittee Pham Dang Quyen asked relevant sectors to review action programmesfor children in 2019-2020, while popularising the Law on Children, preventing violenceagainst and abuse of children through education at home, schools and in the community,thereby contributing to building a safe, friendly, healthy living environmentfor children.

Regarding to drowning prevention, the labour, invalids and social affairs andeducation and training sectors proposed the Government and the Ministry ofEducation and Training to soon include the swimming lessons to educationalprogrammes in schools, aiming to minimise child drowning.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
