Havana (VNA) - First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba Salvador Valdés Mesa on May 6 paidtribute to former President General Le Duc Anh at the Vietnamese Embassy inHavana.

In the funeral book, the Cuban leader wrote that the former Vietnamese Presidentwill be remembered forever as a close friend of Cuba, who worked hard to promotethe historical friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Talking to reporters afterwards, Valdés Mesa highlighted formerPresident General Le Duc Anh’s valuable contributions to Vietnam’srevolutionary cause and expressed his belief that young generations of Vietnamand Cuba will follow his faithful revolutionary example in their national constructionand defence process.

In his capacity as President of Vietnam fromSeptember 1992 to December 1997, General Le Duc Anh once paid an official visitto Cuba in October 1995.

The same day, dozens of delegations from ministries, sectors and socialorganisations of Cuba,diplomatic missions and the Vietnamese communityin Cuba came to the embassy to pay paid homage to the late President.
