Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son called for more investment from Norway in Vietnam during a phone talk with his Norwegian counterpart Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide on June 29.

Hanoi (VNA) – Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son called formore investment from Norway in Vietnam during⛦ a phone 🐎talk with his Norwegiancounterpart Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide on June 29.

He suggested Norwegian businesses invest in transport, shipbuilding, fuel gas, renewable energy and aquaculture. The two sides expressed joy at the development of bilateralrelations in the recent past, including a two-way trade of more than 500million USD in 2020.

They acknowledged the two countries’ bilateral coordination atthe UN Security Council, attributing it to their support for multilateralismand international law as well as shared priorities such as women issues, peace,security, climate change, mine aftermath settlement and protection ofcivilians. FM Son thanked Norway for its support during the month Vietnamserved as President of the UNSD last April and noted his hope for continuedcoordination. The two FMs discussed regional issues on the UNSC’s agenda,sharing concerns over the humanitarian situation in Syria, and the need tocontinue humanitarian support for Syrian people. Son informed the Norwegian minister about ASEAN’s efforts tohelp with the stabilization of the situation in Myanmar. Minister Soreideaffirmed her support for ASEAN’s role and urged ASEAN to early implement thefive-point consensus. The Vietnamese FM invited his Norwegian counterpart to visitVietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Norwaydiplomatic relation. Minister Soreide accepted the invitation with pleasure./.
