Foreign artisans to join Hue Traditional Craft Festival

The eighth Hue Traditional Craft Festival, scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 5, will see the participation of 70 foreign artisans, according to Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hue ancient capital city Nguyen Van Thanh.

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The eighth HueTraditional Craft Festival, scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 5,will see the participation of 70 foreign artisans, according to Chairman of thePeople’s Committee of Hue ancient capital city Nguyen Van Thanh.

The artisans hail from eight cities that have twin-cityand cooperative relationships with Hue, namely Takayama, Sasayama, and Saijo ofJapan; Gyeongju, Namyangiu, and Dongnae of the Republic of Korea (RoK); Konya ofTurkey; and Sao Luix of Brazil. There will also be representatives from craftassociations from the RoK and China, the official said at a press conference onApril 23.

The biennial event will also bring together over 350artisans from 62 craft villages and facilities across the country, who willshow off their skills in different areas like embroidery, jewellery, wooden crafts, copper items, pottery,conical leaf hats, confetti, calligraphy, painting, kite-making,garment-textiles, and bamboo and rattan products.

Of note, Hue’straditional medicine will be introduced on this occasion, where doctors willprovide health check-ups to the festival goers.

Thanh said the festival aims to honour the quintessenceof traditional crafts, improve the efficiency of traditional craft productionand business, enhance cooperation across spheres, spur socio-economic growth,and combine handicrafts with tourism development. –VNA
