Hanoi (VNA) – As the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival is just weeks away, foodsafety acquires added urgency as it is a time when consumption of food reachesits annual peak.

Arepresentative of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department has said food safetyinspection teams have been set up with inspectors from the ministries ofHealth, Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, Science andTechnology, Public Security, and other departments and agencies.

Theseteams will carry out inspections in 12 cities and provinces: Hanoi, Bac Ninh,HCM City, Binh Phuoc, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, An Giang, DongThap, Gia Lai and Kon Tum. At the same time, cities, provinces, districts andcommunes will establish inspection teams of their own to check food hygiene andsafety in their localities.

Theinspections are aimed at evaluating State management of food safety fromprovincial to commune levels, as well as the observance of relevant regulationsby producers, traders and caterers. Authorities are hoping to preventviolations in a timely manner, and minimise the number of food poisoning casesand food-borne diseases. — VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
