Ha Giang (VNA) – A flash flood occurred on October 22 in Ban Riacommune, Quang Binh district, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, afterlong-lasting downpours, killing one man and leaving his son missing.

The flood also injured two people and swept away six houses,damaged dozens of others, and killed tens of head of cattle.

In addition, it also destroyed many sections of NationalHighway No.279, making Ban Ria commune isolated, and damaged Ban Ria Primaryand Secondary Schools.

After receiving the information, leaders of the Quang Binhdistrict People’s Committee came to Ban Ria and asked the commune and relevantoffices to search for the missing, bring locals whose houses were swept away ordestroyed to a safer place, and soon resume the operation of the route leadingto the commune.

The district’s Steering Board on Disaster Prevention andControl and Search and Rescue decided to provide 10 million VND (427 USD) forthe family of the deceased and missing victims, and 3 million VND for each householdwhose home was swept away.-VNA
