Fishermen arrested by Thailand to return home next week

Bangkok (VNA) – The Embassy of Vietnam inThailand is promptly preparing all necessary procedures to bring nineVietnamese fishermen home next week.

Nguyen Ngoc Hai, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy,said the embassy’s representatives on August 21 worked with the centre insupport of victims of human trafficking, women and children under the Ministryof Social Development and Human Security of Thailand to receive these fishermenin Pathum Thani province.

The identities of the fishermen have been verified andthey were enabled to contact their families.

The fishermen were arrested in August 2016 whileillegally fishing in Thailand’s waters.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
